An Adventure of the Scarlet Pimpernel is a sequel to The Scarlet Pimpernel. In Eldorado, Sir Percy becomes involved in one of the most famous plots of the French Revolution, the attempt to rescue the child heir (son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette) to the French throne from imprisonment in Paris and spirits him away to Holland. He willingly walks into an ambush in an attempt to rescue his brother-in-law. When a certain member of the League (who also happens to be related to our hero) falls in love with a French actress, Percy is caught by archenemy hauvelin. His ultimate fate is one of the unknowns of history, though it is almost certain that he died in prison. The main character in reality in the various plots which centred around him was the Austrian-financed agitator, the Baron de Batz.

Lady Molly of Scotland Yard

The book contains all twelve Lady Molly adventures and is narrated by Lady Mollys assistant Mary Granard. Lady Molly has a keen and brilliant mind, never failing to unravel a case that baffles the entire Scotland Yard force. Feisty, brilliant, and beautiful; precursor of the lay sleuth who relies on brains rather than brawn, Lady Molly, and her faithful sidekick and admiring chronicler Mary, began appearing in Orczys entertaining stories years before the first Englishwoman did in fact become an officer of the law. Mystery readers and fans of detective fiction and the police procedural are in for a real treat with these interlaced stories.

The Old Man in the Corner contains twelve of the stories by Baroness Orczy featuring the mysterious man who sits in the corner of the ABC tea shop fiddling with a piece of string whilst working our the solutions to crimes that have baffled the police. Each case is unfolded during the course of a conversation between the man in the corner and a lady journalist, an ingenious method that avoids the necessity of a clumsy tacked-on explanation of the crime. Relying solely on his vast Holmesian powers of deduction, the strange looking sleuth never deigns to visit the scene of the crime, question a suspect, or examine clues. Nor does he have much faith in conventional police methods and crime solving capabilities.

The Scarlet Pimpernel

The scene is set in the terrorized Paris of revolutionary France in the 1800s. During this time period nobody was safe from the horrifying grasp of Madame la Guillotine which claimed hundreds of lives every day. The Scarlet Pimpernel is Englands national hero, a rescuer of French aristocrats from under the guillotine in France. Hes also Sir Percy Blakeny, husband of Marguerite Blakeney nee St. Marguerites brother Armand is under suspicion in France and a French government agent, Chauvelin, approaches her with an ultimatum: discover the identity of the Pimpernel or let your brother die. When she realizes that the Pimpernel is her husband, shes off to warn and rescue him with the help of another member of the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel, Sir Andrew Ffoulkes. Chauvelin threatens to kill Marguerites brother if she warns her husband that Chauvelin is trying to kill him. Will her husband figure out the trap he is in, or will Marguerite warn him before its too late?
