Bez wątpienia dominowała wtedy literatura religijna, a wśród niej takie perły jak Bogurodzica czy Lament świętokrzyski. Świeckie utwory także miały swoją reprezentację w postaci np. Pieśni o zabiciu Andrzeja Tęczyńskiego czy znakomitego poradnika dobrych manier O zachowaniu się przy stole.
