In this work, we follow the unnamed narrator of the story, who, disillusioned by the oppression and corruption of the society in which he lives, withdraws from that society into the underground. This story is an exposé of the irrational forces which underlie all human enterprises, however lofty. Yet even in the darkest moments Dostoevsky finds not only grim humor but also the possibility of redemptive love, embodied in suffering individuals and, above all, in the character of Liza. The books extraordinary style brilliantly violating literary conventions in ways never before attempted shocked its first readers and still shocks many readers today.

Opracowanie stanowi nowatorskie ujęcie problemu społecznej odpowiedzialności przedsiębiorstw (CSR). Podjęto w nim próbę kompleksowego spojrzenia na działalność organizacji społecznych, a w szczególności współpracę korporacji i organizacji pozarządowych służącą realizacji działań społecznie odpowiedzialnych w okresie międzywojennym, po II wojnie światowej iw XXI w. Celem książki jest analiza zjawiska społecznej odpowiedzialności organizacji, a w szczególności wskazanie motywów podejmowania przez korporacje działań filantropijnych. Osobną kwestią jest znaczenie i zakres ujawniania informacji dotyczących współpracy przedsiębiorstw i organizacji pozarządowych. Badano raporty CSR, raporty zintegrowane, a także sprawozdania organizacji pozarządowych. Zastosowano analizę literatury, kwerendy, analizę treści i przypadków oraz analizę statystyczną. W ramach badań historycznych przyjęto metodę indukcyjną, opierając się na danych źródłowych pozyskanych w Archiwum Państwowym w Łodzi. Opracowanie może być wykorzystywane przez badaczy zainteresowanych szeroko rozumianą tematyką społecznej odpowiedzialności przedsiębiorstw.
