W utworach poetyckich stanowiących podstawę podejmowanych rozważań, nowy, doraźny system wierzeń i eschatologicznej nadziei na przezwyciężenie wszechogarniającej człowieka ponowoczesnego nicości, powstaje wewnątrz tekstowego świata. Utwory te stanowią swego rodzaju projekcje światopoglądu społecznego, jednak w znacznym stopniu czytelnik ma w nich do czynienia z indywidualnymi próbami odnalezienia Boga lub, ogólniej, kontaktu z Siłą Wyższą, bądź po prostu próbą ukojenia lęku przed śmiercią kończącą wszystko, przed istnieniem pozbawionym szans na dalsze trwanie. Jednymi z kluczowych pytań w niniejszej monografii stały się te o przyczyny zagubienia oraz motywacje kreowania współczesnych zaświatów w polskiej poezji od drugiej połowy XX wieku.
