Zane Grey
Frontier story of Logan Hewitt and his wife Lucinda and their trials and travails as a pioneer family in Arizona. Story proceeds through development of the automobile and World War I. This is a tale of a single family, told mostly from the point of view of the woman who left comfort to move west and marry her sweetheart. It is also a very nice lens by which we can see the growth and change in this country. Through the Huetts eyes we see the world grow and change, while the patriarch, Logan, clings to his dream of 30,000 cattle. Ends with family starting over after being swindled out of almost a million dollars and two sons being killed in the war. Although the story has some sadness to it, the family demonstrates an ability to overcome all obstacles, including loss of loved ones and family wealth. An inspiring, uplifting story.

Alleys of Darkness is a story in the Sailor Dennis Dorgan series. Cupid VS. Pollux is similarly a bit humorous tale of a heavyweight boxer, whos fallen in love. The boxing tales of Robert E. Howard have been collected into several different collections, some containing only them, some all of the works Howard has written.

In order, the works appear in four volumes as "The Legend of Thunder Moon", "Red Wind and Thunder Moon", "Thunder Moon and the Sky People", and "Farewell, Thunder Moon". Thunder Moon was the adopted son of a great warrior, unaware that he was born the son of a white man. And though he grew bigger and stronger than the other Indian boys, he was not accepted until the day a water snake bit him and began an adventure that would make him a legend among Indians and white man alike! It is the first novel in the series that came out in the year 1970.
