Publikacja - słownik ojkonimów i anojkonimów z powiatu tureckiego stanowi znakomite źródło poznania nazw miejscowych i terenowych ze wschodniej Wielkopolski. Zawiera 1725 haseł skonstruowanych według przejrzystej struktury: wyraz hasłowy, zapisy form gwarowych nazwy, informacja na temat charakteru obiektu, etymologia naukowa nazwy, historia obiektu lub jego ludowa etymologia. Materiał słownikowy został zgromadzony samodzielnie przez autorkę w wyniku eksploracji terenowej w latach 2010-2012, podczas której przeprowadzono rozmowy ze 195 informatorami, oraz w wyniku ekscerpcji źródeł historycznych. Praca stanowi cenny zbiór zestawiający toponimy z powiatu tureckiego obszaru położonego we wschodniej części Wielkopolski, dotychczas nieopracowanego przez onomastów [...] Jest dobrym uzupełnieniem publikacji dotyczących terenów sąsiednich [...] Praca ma charakter językoznawczy, choć jej odbiorcami mogą być także przedstawiciele innych dyscyplin, a także nieprofesjonaliści, zainteresowani tematyką regionalną dotyczącą Wielkopolski. Topos piękna i brzydoty w antycznej kulturze greckiej

Przedmiotem rozważań jest odczuwanie piękna i brzydoty przez antycznych Greków. Egzemplifikacją tych pojęć stają się ukształtowane przez kulturę grecką toposy: topos pięknej Heleny oraz topos graus methyse - anus ebria, czyli "starej pijaczki". Podobnie jak poglądy na temat piękna i brzydoty, tak i funkcjonujące na przestrzeni wieków toposy zmieniają się, ulegając najrozmaitszym modyfikacją. Oznacza to, że mają one charakter dynamiczny. Odzwierciedlają bowiem zjawiska historyczne, społeczno-polityczne czy religijne właściwe danym czasom. Zmiany, jakie zachodzą w obrębie tych zjawisk determinują równocześnie sposób ich naświetlania w tekstach kultury. Te zaś są bowiem czułą membraną, zwierciadłem, w którym odbija się dynamiczne życie polis we wszelkich jego przejawach. Podjęte w książce analizy dwu wymienionych toposów: pięknej Heleny i graus mythyse zmierzają do odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy w pięknie kryje się brzydota, a w brzydocie piękno. Z przedstawionych rozważań wynika, że Helena, jako ikona piękna, staje się uosobieniem jego zgubnej, niszczącej siły, zasługującej jedynie na negatywną waloryzację. Analiza postaci graus methyse - anus ebria prowadzi natomiast do wniosku, że topos ten odwraca tradycyjny sposób postrzegania piękna i brzydoty. Następuje w nim zaskakująca relatywizacja, a nawet odwrócenie utartych pojęć, natomiast w kontekście dionizyjskim topos ten nabiera głębokiego, symbolicznego sensu. Konkludując, możemy zatem powiedzieć, że o sposobie waloryzowania przez antycznych Greków piękna i brzydoty decydowały nie tyle przesłanki zewnętrzne, ile raczej treści, które były w nie wpisywane, a więc to, czego stawały się symbolem, ikoną czy paradygmatem.

Opis książki: Mocno czekoladowy tort Marcello, który na specjalne okazje pojawia się na polskich stołach, powstał jako hołd dla warszawskiej aktorki, Heleny Marcello, związanej z Teatrami Warszawskimi przez ponad czterdzieści lat - od 1879 do 1923 roku. Choć nie sposób dziś ustalić oryginalnej receptury tego odświętnego ciasta, w jego nazwie zachowało się uwielbienie, którym obdarzano artystkę, przetrwała fascynacja i entuzjazm, jakie budziła - ona sama i jej gra sceniczna. Towards a Green Economy. From Ideas to Practice

Scientists in general agree that processes of ecosystem change, including climate change and loss of biodiversity, have reached a stage where it is no longer possible to avoid negative effects for humanity and the world economy. Our era is called the Anthropocene, which means that humans are the predominant instigator of change at a planetary level. A shift towards a green economy seems to be a reasonable course of action, giving hope of halting the negative trends of development and the transition to more sustainable development. This book is a contribution to the ongoing discussion on the current desired track of the development of society and the economy. The authors, researchers from leading Polish universities, propose to look at the green economy from the more practical perspective. The contents of this book cover the following issues in the context of the development and functioning of a green economy: ecosystem services, performance measurement, development of appropriate policy instruments, production and consumption, energy supply and creation of green jobs.

This monographic study analyses in depth the poetry written by four most significant Irish authors born in the 1970s. Together with insightful interpretations of the explored poetry, it offers a new reading of philosophy, social and cultural studies, and psychology connected with the subject matter of women’s empowerment. The poetry of Vona Groarke studies resistance articulated in historical terms, as resistance against political domination (colonisation). Sinéad Morrissey questions the expressions of political violence in the North, even those that might directly result from the reaction against the officially sanctioned system of domination. Caitríona O’Reilly analyses the fears that may be considered as existential (the passage of time, death, loss) that contribute to the sense of women’s incapacity. Here O’Reilly’s poetry seems to work like an empowering catharsis: imagining the least desired course of action and facing up to these vision. The poetry of Mary O’Donoghue probes two correlated though not synonymous phenomena: women being the actual victims of masculine violence, and the social mechanism of victimisation of women that ascribes to the female gender the “natural” and “established” role of a Victim. The book constitutes a thought-provoking debate on the up-to-date issues that need to be critically re-examined and re-thought these days. It is an inspiring reading for people interested not only in Irish poetry but in modern literature in general.
Towards the Modern Theory of Motion. Oxford Calculators and the new interpretation of Aristotle

The problem of the continuity of science from the medieval to the modern times of the 17th century, when Galileo and Newton developed the correct theory of mechanics, occupied historians of science from the beginning of the 20th century. Some believe that the fourteenth-century English scholars who created the School of Oxford Calculators and their French and Italian followers. with their solutions, laid the foundations for the development of modern physics. Others believe that medieval natural philosophy made no contribution to the development of modern science. The presented book is a voice in this discussion and an attempt to answer the question about the continuity of science. Considering how much has been discovered, edited and written about the Oxford Calculators, the book reviews and compares the results of our research with works of the other historians' research into the intellectual heritage of these 14th century English thinkers in order to enrich and update the views on the Oxford Calculators' natural philosophy in perhaps its most fundamental aspect - at least from the point of view of Aristotle's philosophy - namely the subject of "science of local motion." The discussion are mostly focused on topics that were important to medieval thinkers and not those that could be most interesting from the modern point of view, and the research are directed on the Oxford Calculators' tradition in science toward a prospecting of the innovative character of their teaching, and here first of all against the background of Aristotelian theories, and then the subsequent search for possible innovations which could have inspired early modern scientists. As the conclusions of the research on the theories of Oxford calculators are still formulated mainly on the basis of analyzes of incomplete printed texts, the critical editions of Latin texts are offered. These are not only the most famous Calculators' works, such as William Heytesbury's De tribus praedicamentis: de motu locali or John Dumbleton's Part III of the Summa logicae et philosophiae naturalis, but also of a hither to unknown work by Richard Kilvington, i.e., his question on local motion and the question on local motion written by the anonymous author of the treatise De sex inconvenientibus.
