Wszystko wydaje się układać jak najlepiej. W dziewczynie zakochuje się Jerzy, bratanek jej dawnego opiekuna. Jednak na ten związek nie godzi się jego matka. Przeświadczona, że działa dla dobra ukochanego jedynaka, postanawia za każdą cenę zdyskredytować Sonię. Dziewczyna zmuszona jest wziąć swój los we własne ręce. Będzie ją to wiele kosztowało, ale droga do prawdziwego szczęścia bywa bardzo wyboista.
