Za sprawą małżeństwa z Dymitrem Samozwańcem na kilkanaście dni, jako pierwsza w dziejach Rosji kobieta, została carycą. Rządy małżonków, zapowiadające radykalne reformy, zostały gwałtownie przerwane zamachem stanu.

To już druga próba przekładu Agamemnona autorstwa Elżbiety Wesołowskiej. Pierwsza wersja, która ukazała się drukiem w 1997 roku, spotkała się z zainteresowaniem, ale i z krytyczną oceną. Tłumaczenie obecne jest zupełnie nowe, z kilkakrotnie poszerzonym i wzbogaconym komentarzem. Zamierzeniem tłumaczki jest trafić z przekładem Agamemnona Seneki do możliwie szerokiego grona odbiorców, nie tylko filologów klasycznych. Dlatego stara się zarówno we wstępie, jak i w komentarzach nierzadko zawrzeć informacje, które, choć oczywiste dla filologów klasycznych, jednak mogą być użyteczne dla odbiorcy po prostu zainteresowanego kulturą antyczną. Chyba możemy się zgodzić, że brak takich informacji mógłby zubożyć kontekst epoki i dzieła, a więc i utrudnić, może nawet uniemożliwić, dzisiejszy możliwie szeroki odbiór tego interesującego dramatu. Dramat ten bowiem, jakkolwiek skazany na porównanie ze wspaniałą tragedią Ajschylosa pod tym samym tytułem, wciąż budzi zaciekawienie badaczy i czytelników jako dzieło niezwykle interesująco nawiązujące nie tylko do Ajschylosa, ale i do całej tradycji homerowej. Tragiczny powrót do domu naczelnego wodza zwycięskich Achajów spod Troi i dziś może budzić w nas refleksję nad granicami naszych wolnych wyborów czy panowaniem nad własną dobrą i złą pamięcią. Agamemnon to utwór Ajschylosa, jednego z najwybitniejszych, obok Sofoklesa i Eurypidesa, tragików ateńskich. Powszechnie uważany za rzeczywistego twórcę tragedii greckiej. Agamemnon to pierwsza część Oresteji, czyli trylogii starogreckich tragedii autorstwa Ajschylosa. Agamemnon król Myken, wraca po 10 latach do Argos jako zwycięzca z wojny trojańskiej. Królowa Klitajmestra zamierza go jednak zabić, by pomścić złożoną przez niego w ofierze córkę Ifigenię, objąć samodzielnie tron, związać się oficjalnie z wieloletnim kochankiem Ajgistosem.

Po lekturze Agáty Denisy Fulmekovej myślę o ostrym słońcu, które padało na udręczoną i poniżoną bohaterkę, gdy w maju 1624 roku dopełnił się jej los. Myślę jeszcze o krzywdzie, której nie sposób wybaczyć, i o żalu, że się nie odstanie. Denisa Fulmeková w oszczędny, niemal kronikarski sposób opisuje losy Agáty oskarżonej o czary. Pokazuje, jak działa mechanizm władzy i przemocy wobec kobiet, a także pozornie nieszkodliwe rzucanie oszczerstw. Fulmeková tworzy zimny, surowy świat, w którym potrzeba miłości, bliskości i bezpieczeństwa nigdy nie zostanie zaspokojona. Agáta – tak jak przez całe życie – w sądnym dniu była bowiem sama.
