Michel de Montaigne
Montaignes The Essays is an unusual book, largely due to the authors attitude to it. This is an exclusively everyday book, suitable for everyday use, in which the author does not discuss how the world works and where everything goes, but discusses the essential: how to raise children, how to build a married life, how to spend leisure time, etc. At the same time, Montaigne does not have a very high opinion of himself, although he praises him for his non-commitment to excesses and the measuredness of being.
Kenneth Grahame
The stories generally tell about the childhood of 3 boys and 2 girls. Children call adults Olympians and believe that adults no longer know how to have fun. Each of the chapters is an adventure story that children make or imagine. The book will help you get rid of the everyday hustle and bustle of a simple, but spiritual story.
Lucy Maud Montgomery
The Golden Road, written by legendary author Lucy Maud Montgomery is widely considered to be one of the greatest books of all time. This great classic will surely attract a whole new generation of readers. Introduced in The Story Girl, Sara Stanley is L.M. Montgomerys most enchanting heroine since Anne of Green Gables. When she returns to Carlisle to spend the winter with the King family, she comes up with a great idea. To help them through the dreary months ahead, she, Felicity, Cecily and Dan will publish a magazine. Published in 1913, the novel explores themes of childhood innocence and its transience, while highlighting the value of intangible things which prove to be the very essence of life.

The Happy Prince and Other Tales
Oscar Wilde
This is a collection of five short stories (The Happy Prince, The Nightingale and the Rose, The Selfish Giant, The Devoted Friend, and The Remarkable Rocket), that are fairytales like moral fables, not only for children, but drenched in subtle hints aimed at the older readers. Each little story is a beautifully told allegory touching to the heart. Each tale in this compilation is different but there is a strong lesson that could be seen in all. This is the lesson of love and friendship, how it differs in every scenario and what exactly is true love or devoted friendship. The lessons teach in these stories of good and bad, bad might not be necessarily evil but more of the selfish kind, it talked of selflessness and how true love redeems everything in the end. These tales are dark and colorful at the same time, and deal mostly with selfishness, compassion, egotism, Christianity, goodwill and love.
Kenneth Grahame
The Headswoman is an unusual little tale about the power a woman can wield. A funny, witty, intelligent story about an executioner. Along the way, Grahame takes shots at lawyers and small town officials, among others. Thoroughly delightful and well worth reading.
Ellis Parker Butler
Another lighthearted tale from American author Ellis Parker Butler (December 5, 1869 September 13, 1937) which revolves around old Peter Lane, who lives on a decrepit houseboat on the Mississippi River and mostly whiles away his time whittling with his jack-knife and not really doing much else. That is, until one night, a sickly woman knocks at his boat door holding her son in her arms. This encounter would change Peters life, as the old man befriends little Buddy and is determined to keep him and raise him as his own, provided he is able to keep a host of others from laying claim to the orphan. The two outcasts share many adventures over the storybook, enjoying a happy ending despite several difficulties.
