Wyłoniono możliwe rodzaje i typy podstaw ze względu na częstotliwość ich występowania i regularność. W pracy starano się odpowiedzieć na pytanie dotyczące zależności między budową wyrazu wyjściowego, jego użyciem i możliwością tworzenia określonych jego form. Opracowano klasyfikację podstawowych i niektórych peryferyjnych form pochodnych w aspekcie strukturalnym i funkcjonalnym. Omówiono formacje sufiksalne, starając się przy tym określić ich udział w procesie komunikacyjnym oraz prześledzić wartość emocjonalną wnoszoną przez poszczególne sufiksy. Typologia przeprowadzona została z uwzględnieniem stosunku subiektu nazywającego do środowiska komunikacyjnego oraz do obiektu nazywanego określoną formą imienia. W aneksie zaprezentowano spis najbardziej regularnych imion własnych wraz z podstawowymi ich pochodnymi oraz wykaz sufiksów uczestniczących w tworzeniu nieformalnych form imion. Przedstawiono tu także kilka gniazd słowotwórczych, w jakie układają się imiona własne wraz z ich pochodnymi. Opracowanie skierowane jest przede wszystkim do rusycystów.
