Publikowanie artykułów naukowych jest bardzo istotne w każdej dziedzinie wiedzy. Podzielenie się wynikami badań to nie tylko wartość dodana dla świata nauki, ale często także podstawa do awansu naukowego. Poradnik prowadzi potencjalnego autora przez proces powstawania publikacji: od kwestii podstawowych poprzez kolejne etapy tworzenia manuskryptu aż do przekazania publikacji do wydawnictwa. Część I obejmuje fazę  przygotowań do pisania artykułu naukowego: zaczynając od procesu twórczego – wraz ze wskazaniem poszczególnych blokad i rozwiązań, poprzez uwarunkowania, aż do metod i narzędzi twórczych. W części II omówiono tworzenie manuskryptu: materiały potrzebne do przygotowania publikacji, dobór współautorów, części składowe oraz kolejne etapy tworzenia artykułu. Część III to współpraca z wydawnictwem: zgłoszenie publikacji wraz z listem do redaktora naczelnego, etapy w procesie recenzyjnym oraz akceptacja do druku. Część IV przedstawia proces ewaluacji jakości działalności naukowej. Książka jest skierowana przede wszystkim do społeczności inżynierów, którzy nacisk kładą głównie na techniczne aspekty badań. Zawarte zostały w niej praktyczne sposoby na radzenie sobie z problemami, które spotyka się na drodze do publikacji naukowej. Opracowanie wzbogacone zostało obszernym materiałem ilustracyjnym (93 rysunki, 5 tablic) oraz wyodrębnionymi graficznie zaleceniami (22 wskazówki), a ponadto wyróżnia się przyjaznym językiem.
