Employer branding czyli zarządzanie marką pracodawcy. Uwarunkowania, procesy, pomiar

Employer branding jest jedną z najnowszych koncepcji zarządzania. Podejście to łączy ze sobą zarządzanie dwoma najważniejszymi niematerialnymi zasobami organizacji: zasobami ludzkimi oraz marką. Każda organizacja, która występuje w roli podmiotu zatrudniającego, ma swoją, mocniejszą lub słabszą, markę pracodawcy. W przypadku Polski, o czym świadczyć mogą liczne doniesienia medialne lub doświadczenia dużej części pracujących rodaków, dbałość o markę pracodawcy nie należy do grupy priorytetowych działań organizacji. W efekcie, w sytuacji spadającego poziomu bezrobocia (jak przykładowo w roku 2008), wiele podmiotów gospodarczych ma kłopoty nie tylko z zatrzymaniem w firmie obecnych pracowników, ale i pozyskiwaniem nowych kadr. To właśnie powyższe przesłanki stanowiły główny powód zainteresowania się autorki problematyką employer branding, koncepcją, która, gdy stosowana jest w praktyce, stanowić może remedium na problemy organizacji z utrzymywaniem, zatrudnianiem czy motywowaniem pracowników. Niniejsze opracowanie ma głównie charakter poznawczy. Prezentowane treści mają na celu odpowiedzieć na dwa zasadnicze pytania: po pierwsze, dlaczego należy stosować employer branding; po drugie, w jaki sposób zarządzać marką organizacji jako pracodawcy. Odpowiedzi na pierwsze z pytań szukano w charakterze przemian dokonujących się we współczesnych organizacjach i ich otoczeniu. Wskazówek, dotyczących kreowania marki pracodawcy oraz umacniania jej siły, dostarczył z kolei dorobek nauki w zakresie zarządzania, a w szczególności zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi oraz marketingu. Aby jak najdokładniej wyjaśnić istotę omawianej koncepcji, wyniki studiów literaturowych uzupełniono rezultatami badań empirycznych. W ramach badań opracowano instrumentarium badawcze, służące pomiarowi wizerunku marki pracodawcy i określeniu efektów tej siły w postaci postaw i zachowań pracowniczych zaliczanych do grupy lojalnościowych. W efekcie udało się poznać naturę marki organizacji jako pracodawcy oraz opracować wskazówki w zakresie zarządzania, których wdrożenie pozwoli organizacjom wzmacniać siłę ich employer brands.

Energy Issues in Poland - A Handbook for Learners of English as a Foreign Language

This English as a Foreign Language (EFL) handbook is an attempt to systemize knowledge about the current energy situation in Poland from the point of view of sustainable development (S.D.). How can we build a resilient energy system that will allow Poles to be less dependent on our neighbors to meet our energy needs? How can Poland better align with European Union norms? The handbook is divided into four parts: (1) Basics of Energy and Power; (2) Current Energy Issues in Poland; (3) Electrification (4) Future Opportunities. It is to be used with students who are familiar with the English language on a B1/B2 level, to allow them to meet the requirement of B2 language proficiency at the end of their studies. Niniejszy podręcznik jest próbą usystematyzowania wiedzy o aktualnej sytuacji energetycznej w Polsce z punktu widzenia zrównoważonego rozwoju.

The work gives an overview of sustainability and energy issues integrated in sustainable manufacturing providing a comprehensive insight into emerging perspective of energy sustainability and actions for achieving sustainable energy. Therefore, the relevant concepts on energy efficiency, sustainability and their assessment based on indicators are highlighted. This monograph focuses on the evaluation of technologies and manufacturing processes using various assessment methods that maximize economic returns, minimize environment impacts and meet social expectations. It brings together the expertise of respected academics in the field of sustainable manufacturing over the last decade, offering an overview of sustainability assessment methodologies and associated indicators used in this field which were combined in the development of a comprehensive method to cover the major sustainable aspects and issues of assessing and measuring the energy sustainability in manufacturing while considering numerous dimensions such as economic, environmental and social. All these factors together could be useful and applicable in a new way. This is the topic of the current work which is based on the results of researching energy pattern, efficient production systems for sustainability, and policy providing multidimensional perspectives and knowledge necessary to achieve sustainable energy.

English for Hydrography. Vocabulary course materials for students

Podręcznik przeznaczony jest dla studentów hydrografii, którzy znają język angielski co najmniej na poziomie średnio zaawansowanym. Publikacja składa się z dziesięciu rozdziałów, z których każdy dotyczy innego tematu z dziedziny hydrografii. Każdy rozdział rozpoczyna się tekstem w języku angielskim, po którym następuje zestaw ćwiczeń. Celem ćwiczeń jest rozwijanie słownictwa i doskonalenie umiejętności czytania ze zrozumieniem. Podręcznik uzupełniają glosariusze: na marginesie i na końcu całego materiału.

The monograph consists of four chapters which constitute a coherent whole. The first chapter “The Specificity of the Activity of the SME Sector” contains quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the SME sector. Initially, the definitions of small and medium-sized enterprises used in Poland on the basis of regulations adopted in the European Union and in Ukraine are presented. The quantitative structure of the SME sector in both countries and changes in the number of active enterprises in individual size groups in recent years are also presented. The next point indicates the economic and social role of the SME sector in Poland and Ukraine. The role of SMEs in building an innovative economy was also emphasized. The last point of the first chapter discusses the specificity of managing small and medium-sized enterprises compared to large economic entities, from the point of view of the effectiveness and barriers of the management process, as well as the creation of effective management tools. The second chapter titled “Entrepreneurial Orientation of Small and Mediumsized Enterprises” provides a comprehensive discussion of the construct of entrepreneurial orientation of an organization. In the first section, the subject is located in the area of knowledge – organizational entrepreneurship, and more broadly in management sciences. Then, the definitions of entrepreneurial orientation are introduced and compared, taking into account the multidimensionality of the construct. The individual dimensions in the 5-dimensional approach to entrepreneurial orientation have also been characterized, i.e. autonomy, proactivity, risk taking, innovation and competitive aggressiveness. The last part of the second chapter relates to a specific approach, opportunities and threats to the functioning of entrepreneurial orientation in small and medium-sized enterprises. The third chapter “Organizational Flexibility in the Activities of Enterprises” reflects the multifaceted approach to the flexible functioning of modern enterprises. After introducing the necessary definitions of organizational flexibility, along with its specific features and the results of its implementation in the enterprise, the authors characterized the individual dimensions of organizational flexibility, indicating that it is not a uniform construct. Due to the fact that the monograph focuses on management problems of small and medium-sized enterprises, the last part of the chapter presents considerations on the specific conditions of flexible functioning of this group of enterprises. The fourth chapter titled “Case study in the Sector of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises” presents a discussion of the results of qualitative own research. The research in the form of an in-depth interview was conducted in eight enterprises, including four small and four medium-sized enterprises. The research was international in nature, i.e. half of the surveyed entities are companies operating in Poland, and the remaining companies are based in Ukraine. Such a research approach allowed for the observation of differences in the approach to entrepreneurial orientation and organizational flexibility of enterprises in countries with different socio-economic development. The method and scope of the conducted research have been discussed in detail in the research methodology. The last part of the chapter is a summary of the results of qualitative research, indicating the observed regularities, limitations along with potential solutions for a more effective functioning of small and medium-sized enterprises. The monograph is supplemented with an introduction and an ending, summarizing the authors’ scientific considerations, and bibliography.

Coursebook is devoted to 30-hours lecture course on Environmental Protection, delivered by the author for more than 9 years to polish and international students studied in English at the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology. The main objective of the book is to provide the undergraduate students with the necessary knowledge on Environmental Protection that will help them in their future career. Obtained knowledge will be also useful in the course of 1st and 2nd level studies, especially in interim and diploma projects preparation. Future engineers who will develop Electric and Hybrid Vehicles need fundamental knowledge on finding proper solutions to environmental challenges. This book will allow them to study various aspects of the natural world with the focus on issues related to pollution, treatment technologies, waste management, air quality and ecosystems protection.
