In return, Kline wrote two novels set on Mars, as well as several jungle adventurers quite reminiscent of Burroughss Tarzan.

From his position on the original editorial staff of Weird Tales and as the literary agent for Conan creator Robert E. Howard, Kline helped shape the face of science fiction as we know it. Kline represented Howard from the Spring of 1933 until Howards death in June 1936, and continued to act as literary agent for Howards estate thereafter. This one is doing all of those things you expect and want a classic pulp sci-fi to do, not the least of which being to put a smile on your face.

It features the characters of John Carter and Carter's wife Dejah Thoris.  Full of swordplay and daring feats, the series is considered a classic example of 20th-century pulp fiction. The story is set on Mars, imagined as a dying planet with a harsh desert environment. This vision of Mars was based on the work of the astronomer Percival Lowell, whose ideas were widely popularized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
