This vision of Mars was based on the work of the astronomer Percival Lowell, whose ideas were widely popularized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

As may be imagined from the title, Mr. Fenton Ashs book does not lack for marvelous adventure. A Son of the Stars novel is a complete rewrite of Fenton Ashs earlier novel A Trip to Mars. An exciting science fiction adventure, in which two heroes journey on a trip to Mars, where they have various adventures. In A Son of the Stars the heroes, who bear the names Gerald Wilton and Jack Lawford in A Trip to Mars, are called Bruce Mortimer and Maurice Somers. The names of other characters have also been changed, and there are major plot differences between the two works. All in all, they differ sufficiently to merit their classification as two separate novels. Highly recommended!

Weird mystery with rationalized supernaturalism featuring private detective Matthew Grimlock. A Studio Mystery is a secret, and there is not much of a secret about the murder of the artist Arnold. The suspicions of the reader fall at once on Gustave. There is a certain ingenuity, however, in the working out of the motive of the crime. Altogether, A Studio Mystery is a fairly good specimen of its class written by Frank Aubrey. Francis Henry Frank Atkins (18471927) was a British writer of pulp fiction, in particular science fiction aimed at younger readers, writing at least three Lost-World novels along with much else. He wrote under the pseudonyms Frank Aubrey and Fenton Ash.

W swojej hipnotycznej prozie, która rozciąga czas i rozrywa przestrzeń, Krasznahorkai z obsesją przywiązany pozostaje do katastroficznej wizji świata, oddając wewnętrzny rytm człowieka zagubionego w absurdzie istnienia. Narracja, płynąca niczym rwąca rzeka myśli, wciąga czytelnika w uniwersum, gdzie każdy gest i każde słowo mają egzystencjalny wymiar. Język Krasznahorkaiego jest niczym pęknięty obiektyw: wprawdzie zniekształca, ale i tak pozwala zajrzeć głębiej, pod powierzchnię rzeczywistości. Z posłowiaElżbiety Sobolewskiej László Krasznahorkai jest wielkim pisarzem epickim, osadzonym w środkowoeuropejskiej tradycji, sięgającej od Kafki do Thomasa Bernharda, charakteryzującej się absurdyzmem i groteskowym nadmiarem napisał w laudacji noblowskiej Anders Olsson, przewodniczący Akademii Szwedzkiej, która przyznała pisarzowi Nagrodę Nobla 2025 w dziedzinie literatury.

An exciting science fiction adventure, in which two Edwardian schoolboys Gerald Wilton and Jack Lawford journey on a trip to Mars, where they have various adventures and help to suppress a revolt. The story opens in the Southern Seas with the fall of what is at first taken for an immense meteorite, but really is a Martian airship. The heroes, in company with a few other denizens of this earth, are invited to return to Mars, and what they do and see there, make a tale well worth reading. This story is a simple variation on the theme of A Son of the Stars, but it is not a sequel thereto. Its most original feature is the spaceship used to transport the heroes, a compound or the organic and inorganic that qualifies as an early cyborg.
