Kiedyś sądziłem, że przez całe życie publikować będę wyłącznie uczone prace o literaturze - jak na profesjonalistę w tej dziedzinie przystało. Rzeczy wszakże potoczyły się inaczej, niespodziewanie dla samego siebie zacząłem pisać teksty narracyjno-wspomnieniowe; myślałem wprawdzie o tym w jakże odległych (niestety !) latach młodości, ale traktowałem jak nieszkodliwy fantazmat, który nigdy nie będzie miał konsekwencji praktycznych. Magdalenka z razowego chleba, na dwie części podzielona (Odgłosy minionych lat i Mieszaniny podróżne), składa się z 29 krótkich opowieści o różnym charakterze. Nieliczne (Z getta do getta, Powrót) bezpośrednio się wiążą z moimi wspomnieniami z lat Zagłady Czarne sezony (Wyd. Open 1998), reszta dotyczy już czasów powojennych. Opowiadam o uczniowskim czynie z okazji urodzin wielkiego językoznawcy i ozdoby całej postępowej ludzkości (młodym osobom, które peryfraz tych nie znają, wyjaśniam, iż chodzi o Stalina) oraz o pochodzie żałobnym w Warszawie w dniu jego pogrzebu, w którym musieli wziąć udział także wszyscy studenci. Przedstawiam biografie kilku charakterystycznych dla tamtych PRL-owskich czasów postaci. I tu muszę dobitnie podkreślić, że nie chodziło mi o portretowanie konkretnych osób, wprost przeciwnie, zabiegałem o uchwycenie pewnych rysów ogólnych, nikt zatem nie ma prawa uznać, że stał się bohaterem tej lub innej mojej opowieści. To tutaj właśnie (i w zasadzie tylko tutaj) wprowadziłem pewne elementy fikcji, no bo fikcja służy najlepiej przedstawianiu sylwetek dla danego czasu reprezentatywnych. Część drugą - zgodnie z tytułem - wypełniają właśnie mieszaniny, czyli opowieści o różnym charakterze, niektóre poważne (dwie czy trzy wręcz ponure), inne - i te stanowią chyba większość - dadzą się określić jako skromne powiastki czy wręcz anegdoty. A dlaczego całość nosi taki tytuł ? Jeden z kolegów mnie ostrzegał: nie nazywaj tak książki, bo jeszcze ktoś pomyśli, że chodzi o ową podwarszawską Magdalenkę, która weszła do najnowszej historii Polski (ale także do mitologii). Czytelnicy Prousta nie będą mieli wątpliwości, że zdobyłem się na śmiałość i pozwoliłem sobie na aluzję do jednego z najbardziej znanych motywów jego wielkiego dzieła. A dlaczego owa magdalenka sporządzona została z tak niestosownego tworzywa, Czytelnik się dowie, jeśli zechce przeczytać ostatnią opowieść zamieszczoną w tej książce.

W otoczeniu ośmiorga swoich dzieci tworzyła bajki (Na jagody). Jako poetka, inspiracji szukała w naturze (Zimowy poranek). Swoje wiersze publikowała głównie w prasie. Wiersz patriotyczny Rota konkurował z Mazurkiem Dąbrowskiego o miano hymnu Polski. Wiele jej utworów powstało podczas podróży po Europie (Italia). Ostatnie lata życia poświęciła poematowi Pan Balcer w Brazylii. autor: Bartłomiej Chwil Kupując książkę wspierasz fundację Nowoczesna Polska, która propaguje ideę wolnej kultury. Wolne Lektury to biblioteka internetowa, rozwijana pod patronatem Ministerstwa Edukacji Narodowej.
