Interest in local production systems (LPS) seems to be today at its peak. Many studies, which consider this phenomenon, are conducted by different research teams and cover various, often economically and culturally distant areas, which results in a variety of ideas. Thus, what can contribute significantly to the stock of knowledge about local production systems, are regional and local case studies. The latter were elaborated within the framework of the project FOLPSEC, financed by the European Union’s 7th Framework Programme and concentrated primarily on identifying both common features and territorial specificities of local production systems’ functioning in Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine. This book is a collection of the most empirical part of the studies conducted during this project and consists of two parts. First is devoted to the case studies of local production systems functioning in Bulgaria, Russia, and Slovakia, while the other presents the results of valuable comparative studies made in chosen cities and regions in Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine. With no doubt, identifying them can contribute significantly to deepening the knowledge about local production systems functioning in this part of the world. We współczesnych naukach ekonomicznych rośnie zainteresowanie lokalnymi systemami produkcyjnymi (LSP). Badania poświęcone temu zjawisku prowadzone są z udziałem wielu grup naukowców oraz dotyczą dużej liczby obszarów na świecie, niejednokrotnie bardzo od siebie odległych w sensie ekonomicznym i kulturowym. To z kolei rodzi różnorodność spojrzeń na fenomen lokalnych systemów produkcyjnych, w literaturze ekonomicznej nazywanych także klastrami. W związku z tym, istotne znaczenie dla rozwoju wiedzy na ten temat przypisuje się studiom przypadków prowadzonych w układach lokalnych i regionalnych. Studia takie prowadzono m.in. w ramach projektu FOLPSEC finansowanego ze środków 7. Programu Ramowego Unii Europejskiej, koncentrując się na poszukiwaniu specyficznych uwarunkowań terytorialnych funkcjonowania lokalnych systemów produkcyjnych w Bułgarii, Polsce, Rosji, Słowacji oraz Ukrainie. Niniejsza monografia składa się z dwóch części. Pierwsza poświęcona jest wprost studiom przypadków lokalnych systemów produkcyjnych funkcjonujących w Bułgarii, Rosji oraz Słowacji, natomiast na część drugą składają się studia porównawcze uwarunkowań funkcjonowania LSP w wybranych miastach i regionach Bułgarii, Polski, Rosji, Słowacji oraz Ukrainy. Materiał zgromadzony w wyniku badań i zaprezentowany w niniejszej monografii ma szanse istotnie przyczynić się do rozwoju wiedzy na temat lokalnych systemów produkcyjnych w tej części świata.
