Nie do uwierzenia była też historia mojej prababki, która przez wojnę ukrywała żydowskiego przechrztę, a następnie wzięła z nim ślub. Na tym samym podwórku, gdzie bawiłem się latami, w miejscu po starym domu i chlewiku, w którym mój przyszywany pradziad ukrywał się przed Niemcami, patrzyłem przez liście na słońce i księżyc, widziałem przemijanie i wzrastanie, całe piękno i grozę życia. Żyłem z tą przeszłością i przyszłością, prawdą i zmyśleniem, stopiony z nieskończonością, więc również nicością, która tak często spoglądała na mnie, a ja – na nią. Na początku bowiem było słowo bejt, czyli dom.
