W 1970 roku do publicznej obrony pracy doktorskiej przystąpiła Hanna Tadeusiewicz, obecnie już Profesor. Od tego wydarzenia minęło 50 lat. Monografia została opracowana z myślą o dostojnej Jubilatce, która poprzez swoją osobowość, pracowitość, systematyczność oraz liczne prace naukowe i organizacyjne w bardzo istotny, niezwykle pozytywny sposób wpłynęła na rozwój i kształt polskiej nauki o książce i bibliotece. Bibliologia i informatologia, dyscyplina funkcjonująca pod tą nazwą w obszarze nauk humanistycznych w latach 2011-2018, po reformie została włączona do nauk społecznych, tworząc wspólny obszar badawczy z szeroko pojętymi naukami o komunikacji społecznej i mediach. Naukowcy zajmujący się przedmiotami badań przynależącymi do bibliologii i informatologii wciąż jednak piszą teksty z pogranicza nauk humanistycznych i społecznych, koncentrując się na mediach (do których należy zaliczyć też książkę i bibliotekę), komunikacji społecznej, ale także na kulturze i historii, czasem na literaturze i języku. W publikacji zawarto teksty o charakterze interdyscyplinarnym, a wśród autorów znaleźli się bibliolodzy, informatolodzy, literaturoznawcy, historycy, językoznawcy i kulturoznawcy. Z pewnością zebrane w tomie artykuły okażą się wartościową lekturą dla badaczy i pasjonatów nauk humanistyczno-społecznych. Publikacja adresowana jest przede wszystkim do środowiska naukowego, ale również do studentów, bibliotekarzy i nauczycieli.
