Narrated by the character for whom the title is named and set in the late 1600s, Micah Clarke describes the battle of peasants against the existing king of England in the hopes that they can replace the monarch with his brother who feels he has been unjustly denied the throne. Micah Clarke, a young, innocent peasant joins forces with other peasants, among the Puritans, to fight for this pathetic dukes cause. It was attempt by Conan Doyle to present the story of the Puritans in a more favorable light than generally thought of in England at the time the book was written a historical romance about the Monmouth rebellion and Hanging Judge Jeffries told by a humble adherent of the Duke of Monmouth the whole story of the rising in Somerset, the triumphant advance towards Bristol and Bath, and the tragic rout at Sedgemoor (1685).

As may be imagined from the title, Mr. Fenton Ashs book does not lack for marvelous adventure. A Son of the Stars novel is a complete rewrite of Fenton Ashs earlier novel A Trip to Mars. An exciting science fiction adventure, in which two heroes journey on a trip to Mars, where they have various adventures. In A Son of the Stars the heroes, who bear the names Gerald Wilton and Jack Lawford in A Trip to Mars, are called Bruce Mortimer and Maurice Somers. The names of other characters have also been changed, and there are major plot differences between the two works. All in all, they differ sufficiently to merit their classification as two separate novels. Highly recommended!

Instytucja odpowiedzialności posiłkowej stosowana wcześniej fakultatywnie stała się obecnie obligatoryjna w razie wystąpienia przesłanek ją warunkujących. Jest ona szczególną formą odpowiedzialności przewidzianą w kodeksie karnym skarbowym. Systemowo jest odpowiedzialnością inną niż odpowiedzialność karna powszechna za własne działanie lub zaniechanie. Typowy dla prawa karnego aspekt indywidualizacji ponoszenia kary za swoje przewinienia podlega w prawie karnym skarbowym modyfikacjom. Zakłada bowiem możliwość przeniesienia wykonania kar i środków karnych o charakterze finansowym – ze sprawcy na inny podmiot. Rodzi się zatem pytanie o charakter oraz wymiar omawianej instytucji. Pomocny dla wyjaśnienia tej kwestii jest niewątpliwie sam charakter prawa karnego skarbowego i wiodący w nim prym walor kompensacji, będący priorytetem, dla podstawowej w prawie karnym powszechnym, represji. Oczywiście głównym zadaniem prawa karnego skarbowego jest przecież w istocie dążenie do zapewnienia wpływów przynależnych Skarbowi Państwa z różnych tytułów prawnych, tak więc egzekwowanie należności staje się głównym celem i zadaniem nadrzędnym, nawet nad karno-wychowawczym aspektem prewencyjnym celów wszystkich kar i środków karnych. Książka jest syntetycznym, jak również całościowym ujęciem zagadnień dotyczących statusu oraz uprawnień podmiotu mającego ponosić odpowiedzialność posiłkową, jak również kumulacji jego roli z inną stroną, czy też quasi-stroną postępowania karnego skarbowego.

W książce zawarte zostały rezultaty badań jakościowych nad zjawiskiem mobbingu.
