Pomysł mego współpracownika dr. Wojciecha Ogrodnika, by ,,powtórzyć Touraine'a", początkowo wydał mi się szalony. Uległem argumentom Zespołu. I była to dobra decyzja! Dzięki temu Czytelnik ma w ręku książkę, będącą arcyciekawym zapisem dyskusji i komentarzy ludzi, których udało nam się ponownie spotkać - po ponad 30 latach od badań przeprowadzonych przez zespół Alaina Touraine'a. A było to najsłynniejsze chyba badanie socjologiczne nad ruchem społecznym Solidarność. Postanowiliśmy je swoiście powtórzyć w roku 2015. ,,Interwencja" jest wynalazkiem prof. Touraine'a, wskazującym jak badać ruchy społeczne. Nasza ,,interwencja" stanowi tylko wariację na temat pierwotnego projektu; zachowaliśmy jednak zasadnicze cechy i typ dyskusji. Drugie spotkania dawnych aktywistów Solidarności były dyskusjami z udziałem także nowych aktorów społecznych, takich, którzy się pojawili dopiero w demokratycznej Polsce. Dyskusja nie dotyczyła więc tylko dawnych czasów, ale nade wszystko Polski po transformacji, i to Polski w czasie toczącej się kampanii wyborczej. Z działaczami Solidarności z roku 1981 dyskutowali przedsiębiorcy, działacze partii politycznych, przedstawiciele władz samorządowych, intelektualiści i ludzie kultury. Jakość tej dyskusji uderzała nas od pierwszego spotkania: dawni aktywiści wciąż myśleli niezwykle szeroko i starali się zrozumieć nowy polski świat społeczny.
