All this happens in the first few chapters!
Novalis
Novalis to pseudonim niemieckiego poety i prozaika, jednego z najważniejszych przedstawicieli wczesnego romantyzmu. Studiował on prawo, filozofię i nauki przyrodnicze, pracował jako urzędnik. W poglądach przeciwstawiał się racjonalizmowi, wartości upatrywał w uczuciowości i wierze. W twórczości literackiej stosował charakterystyczną dla późniejszych okresów kompozycję otwartą, stąd często nazywano go wielkim artystą fragmentu. Henryk Ofterdingen zalicza się do powieści edukacyjnych, zanurza się w mistyce i kreuje bohatera, którego przeznaczenie stanowi pouczająca wędrówka.
William Le Queux
The Ambassadors office was indeed a very thankless one, while my own position as second secretary of the Paris Embassy was a post not to be envied, even though it is popularly supposed to be one of the plums of the diplomatic service. With Paris full of spies endeavouring to discover our secrets and divine our instructions from Downing Street, and the cabinet noir ever at work upon our correspondence, it behoved us to be always on the alert, and to have resort to all manner of ingenious subterfuges in order to combat our persistent enemies.
Mary Cholmondeley
A mysterious story of a murder, which, by the name, makes it clear that in tension the plot will hold on to the end. A phrase that makes you immediately pay attention to a sharp plot: I could not be really happy with a husband whose hands were red with gore.
B.M. Bower
Eastern society girl Beatrice Lansell, on a visit to her brothers Montana ranch, is being pressured by her social-climbing mother to accept her English nobleman suitor, Sir Redmond Hayes. She fills her days with coquetry, leisure and meaningless flirtations, but she has never found true love. The staunchly independent Beatrice finds herself equally annoyed and attracted by mysterious cowboy Keith Cameron. Will this improbable romance last? Theres plenty of conflict as corporations start buying up the free range, plenty of excitement and danger from the elements and criminals, and of course, plenty of romance as a New York socialite and a ruggedly noble cowpuncher fall in love.

There are hours of promises, and zero hour; promises initially, which are sometimes even sweeter than their execution. Jacqueline Lanier did not fully realize the time of heyday, and therefore contours of young charm were not tempered by the usual self-affirmation. Therefore, when she was under the care of Desmoe, she knew that between the emotions of gratitude, the philosophy that comes later in life when we are forced to try to explain their mistakes is not very accessible.
Her Royal Highness. A Romance of the Chancelleries of Europe
William Le Queux
A large, square wooden veranda covered by a red and white awning, above a wide silent sweep of flowing river, whose huge rocks, worn smooth through a thousand ages, raised their backs about the stream, a glimpse of green feathery palms and flaming scarlet poinsettias on the island opposite, and beyond the great drab desert, the illimitable waste of stony, undulating sands stretching away to the infinite, and bathed in the blood-red light of the dying day.
Lew N. Tolstoi
Herrn Mahlhubers Reiseabenteuer

H. Rider Haggard
In this story, the already familiar hero, Allan Quatermain, tries to explain the mysteries of Africa. Here Quatermain unearths and destroys the cult of the priest, exploiting the remnants of a dying civilization. Allan proves their fraud. The main character, as always, is rational in his actions.
Wilkie Collins

Clorinda is for everyone except her husband and a few old people. She was so sweet and dignified. However, she was born Cooper. She was a plump woman who, at sixty, still retained the girls questioning look. She was fond of wearing light dresses, which she calmly recognized were too young for her. Now she wore one, a muslin with pink flowers and a lampshade of hats. Despite her age, she was very energetic. This instructive story is a must-read.
Hans Dominik
