Kálmán Mikszáth
Kálmán Mikszáth (18471910) węgierski pisarz, polityk i dziennikarz. Pochodził z arystokratycznej rodziny. Był członkiem Partii Liberalnej i deputowanym do węgierskiego Zgromadzenia Narodowego. Studiował prawo w Budapeszcie, wykonywał m.in. zawód dziennikarza. Jednak to literatura była jego główną pasją i dominującym zajęciem. Pisał opowiadania i powieści z życia chłopów i rzemieślników, nie stronił od satyry społecznej, poddając krytyce kulturę arystokratyczną.
