Zwierciadło znajduje się w takim położeniu, że siedząc przy stole, widzę w nim tylko odbicie firanek czerwonych, wiszących przy oknie. Dziwna jednak rzecz zdarzyła się nocy ubiegłej... I dalej autor snuje fascynująca opowieść o tym, że jest to magiczne lustro, które pozwoliło mu spojrzeć w przeszłość.
