L'art de vivre / de survivre / de revivre : tel est le theme conducteur de ce volume que nous remettons aujourd'hui dans les mains du lecteur. Sa valeur principale est de combiner l'histoire de la Philologie Romane de Łódź, inscrite dans une serie d'evenements historiques tumultueux, avec celle des experiences penibles du mo!=ment present, marque par la pandemie et la guerre : dans les deux cas, nous observons le phenomene de rupture qui, d'un trace epais, separe ce qui a ete de ce qui est et de ce qui sera. La rupture chasse nos habitudes confortables ou neutralise les sources anterieures de nos maux et chagrins, et nous contraint incessamment a reflechir sur les formes de vie de l'individu dans une nouvelle realite et, par la force des choses, a reevaluer son actuel modus vivendi. Bien sur, nous n'apprendrons pas a bien vivre du jour au lendemain ; pour le faire, nous avons besoin de distance temporelle et de sa fonction cognitive dont Marcel Proust parlait d'une maniere si suggestive. Cependant, on peut dire avec certitude que l'art de vivre / de survivre / de revivre suppose une reflexion ancree dans un axe temporel. Mais qu'est-ce que le temps ? Ce qui n'est plus et ce qui n'est pas encore, mais aussi ce qui est a la frontiere entre le passe et l'avenir, ce moment insaisissable qui meurt aussitot qu'il nait. Ce nihilisme philosophique peut certes etre attenue par la conception bergsonienne de la duree, la seule forme reelle de l'experience du temps. Mais l'humaniste ne manquera pas de trouver, dans ces considerations, l'horizon intellectuel de ses propres reflexions et de s'interroger sur le quoi, le comment et le pourquoi. Il se penchera sur ce qui est et ce qui dure et sur les formes que la duree peut revetir. Enfin, il donnera libre cours a son imagination pour modeler la vision de son propre avenir et celui de la communaute dont il fait partie.

Monografia „Lasy przyszłości. Wyzwania współczesnego leśnictwa” opublikowana staraniem Oficyny Wydawniczej Politechniki Białostockiej dotyczy różnorodnych aspektów kształtowania, hodowli i ochrony lasów. Lasy i leśnictwo stoją współcześnie wobec wielu wyzwań o skali dotychczas niespotykanej, związanych zwłaszcza z kryzysem klimatycznym, a także przewartościowaniem potrzeb i oczekiwań społecznych dotyczących ich funkcji. Wymaga to modyfikacji zarządzania lasami w wielu obszarach. Młode pokolenie leśników będzie mierzyć się z tego rodzaju wyzwaniami w nieporównywalnie większym stopniu niż ich poprzednicy. Procesom i zjawiskom tego rodzaju poświęcone były konferencje organizowane w Instytucie Nauk Leśnych Politechniki Białostockiej w latach 2020–2021. Referaty prezentowane wówczas stały się punktem wyjścia dla autorów większości rozdziałów składających się na niniejszy tom.

Ta książka traktuje nasze najnowsze dzieje jako jeden ciąg, w którym zdarzenia późniejsze zwykle wynikają z wcześniejszych. Konkretnie, PiS-owska powtórka PRL jest logicznym skutkiem rządów 1989–2015, a nie „wypadkiem przy pracy” czy wybrykiem „przypadkowego” społeczeństwa. Potężniejące niezadowolenie z rządów po 1989 roku widać było przecież już we wczesnych latach 90. Autora bardziej interesują postawy ludzkie niż konkretne decyzje i uważa, że hasło „przede wszystkim odsunąć PiS” jest kolejnym politycznym strzałem w płot. W książce znajdziemy analizy niebywałego rozwoju i udoskonalenia stalinowskiej nowomowy, a także analizy skutków usiłowań oparcia życia społecznego na jakiejś jednej, spójnej doktrynie, która ma automatycznie załatwić wszystkie problemy. Jeden z tekstów wskazuje, że próby zdobycia reparacji od Niemców mogą się dla Polski zakończyć sukcesem, czyli bardzo źle. Najogólniejszą tezą książki jest pogląd, że rozwój kraju w małym stopniu zależy od ustroju społeczno-gospodarczego, w znacznym zaś od kultury społeczno-politycznej obywateli. Jeśli jest ona taka, jak we współczesnej Polsce – czyli bardzo niedojrzała – to cwaniacy i oszuści coraz łatwiej zdobywają stanowiska decyzyjne ze wszystkimi tego skutkami, a wprowadzone instytucje demokratyczne zostają obłaskawione i przystosowane do ich potrzeb. Marek Tabin – urodzony w Tarnowie, magister fizyki i doktor socjologii (Uniwersytet Warszawski). Po ukończeniu studiów pracował jako nauczyciel, później jako socjolog w Polskiej Akademii Nauk i Uniwersytecie Warszawskim, jednocześnie uczestniczył w działaniach opozycji demokratycznej. W stanie wojennym internowany. W okresie 1983–1994 na emigracji, w Paryżu – wydawca „Biuletynu Informacyjnego NSZZ «Solidarność»”, w Monachium – redaktor w Radio Wolna Europa. Prowadził wykłady na Uniwersytecie Paris-Saint Denis. Po powrocie do Polski aż do emerytury pracował na UW. Tłumacz literatury socjologicznej na język polski. Jest laureatem Nagrody Sekretarza Naukowego PAN za pracę doktorską; odznaczony Krzyżem Kawalerskim Orderu Odrodzenia Polski. Zainteresowania: metody ilościowe w socjologii, socjologia i psychologia polityki, konflikt, niekomunikacyjne wykorzystywanie języka. Mieszka na wsi pod Warszawą.
