Frank Baum, and published in 1907 under the pseudonym Capt. Hugh Fitzgerald. The book was a sequel to the first Sam Steele novel, Sam Steeles Adventures on Land and Sea. The book was reprinted two years later, in 1908, with the alternative title The Boy Fortune Hunters in Alaska.

Among those you can find many examples of adventure fiction, including this, the inaugural title of the Sam Steele series. Sam Steele is the son of a sea captain; his father is reported killed in a shipwreck, and Sam is quickly cheated of his inheritance. Now an orphan, he meets his maternal uncle, Naboth Perkins, another sea captain and ship-owner; together the two set sail in the Pacific trade. At home again, Sam and Naboth discover that Sams father Captain Steele has survived shipwreck, with the loss of a leg. Re-united with his father, Sam regains his lost patrimony. Unusually for Baum, the tale of Sam Steeles Adventures on Land and Sea is told in the first person, by the title character.

Zbiory opowiadań Sanatorium Pod Klepsydrą i Sklepy cynamonowe stanowią trudną do oddzielenia całość fabularną. W opowiadaniach utrwalony zostaje chylący się ku upadkowi świat, który dawał bohaterowi oparcie i bezpieczeństwo.

1936. Sanctuary Island is a crime novel by the pioneer of detective fiction Edgar Wallace (an adaption by Robert Curtis). Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace was born in London, England in 1875. He received his early education at St. Peters School and the Board School, but after a frenetic teens involving a rash engagement and frequently changing employment circumstances, Wallace went into the military. He served in the Royal West Kent Regiment in England and then as part of the Medical Staff Corps stationed in South Africa. Over the rest of his life, Wallace produced some 173 books and wrote 17 plays. These were largely adventure narratives with elements of crime or mystery, and usually combined a bombastic sensationalism with hammy violence.

It is against the regulations and his boss Hamilton is furious. While world powers vie for colonial honors, Sanders and his assistants attempt to administer an uneasy peace in a climate of ju-ju and witch doctors, and all the while Bosambo, chief of the Ochori, watches closely. Sanders should be on the must-read list of every action-adventure junkie.

Colonial adventures in a 6 volume collection set on the Dark Continent. Sanders and Co. return to Africa (following the events in Bones in London) to bring the old Kings country under the Union Jack and to try and find what has happened to a missionary and his daughter. It is written in a delightfully humorous style. Sandi, the King-maker among other novels by Edgar Wallace conveys the paternal attitude that Englands officials felt toward the native tribes of Africa. Part of his famous African novels (Sanders of the River series), this volume is highly recommended for those who have read and enjoyed others in the series, and it would make for a worthy addition to any collection.

B. M. Bower (a woman who actually lived in early 20th century Montana when this story was written) has a good sense of humor and touches on some of the big issues of the West such as water rights and land ownership and development. Her intrepid heroine starts out as a girl actor in the silly Westerns of early Hollywood and then switches to a remote ranch for the real cowgirl experience. Many of Bowers books were adapted for the big screen, and her characters and landscape descriptions have been indelibly stamped on the conventions of classic Western films. Whether youre a first-time reader or a long-time fan, Sawtooth Ranch will surely please fans of classic Westerns.
