Comment est-il passé de la Chaussée-dAntin au bagne? On se laisse emporter par un conduit psychologique tres instable de ce personnage, on le voit dabord intrépide au bagne, ensuite un enfant fragile dans sa contrée, un espiegle jeune apprenti, un impertinent faussaire, un brave imposteur et enfin un froussard face la justice, la mort, un déséquilibré choisissant de noyer sa honte dans le suicide!
