George Orwell

These are notes on the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1937, in which Orwell took part. The notes consist, as it were, of two parts: the story of an eyewitness participant and an analytical analysis. The author shows the war in an unusual perspective. There is no heroism in it, no clear goal and ideological orientation. Orwell describes in detail the natural benevolence of the Spaniards, their tolerance for dissent, generosity and, at the same time, practicality, monstrous lack of punctuality.

Birds intercept the smoke from the sacrifices that the gods feed on, persuade people to honor the birds as new gods and promise them protection for this.

If a person objectionable to the party appears, then you need to erase information about him, and rewrite some facts properly. Society must follow the laws of the Party and support its policy. The main character only pretends that his ideals coincide with the ideas in the party, but in fact he fiercely hates her politics.
