“Naszyjnik królowej” to powieść Aleksandra Dumasa (ojca), francuskiego pisarza i dramaturga, autor “Hrabiego Monte Christo” i “Trzech muszkieterów”.   Powieść ta jest drugą z czterech części cyklu “Pamiętniki lekarza”. Na cykl ten składają się “Józef Balsamo”, “Naszyjnik królowej”, “Anioł Pitou” oraz “Hrabina de Charny”.    Cykl opowiada o genezie, wybuchu i przebiegu Wielkiej Rewolucji Francuskiej. Pokazuje również smutne losy królowej Francji, Marii Antoniny, znienawidzonej przez francuski lud i nieszczęśliwej w miłości. Ukazane są tu losy postaci zarówno historycznych, jak i fikcyjnych. Powieści są wielowątkowe, a losy różnych postaci przeplatają się ze sobą w taki sposób, że trudno powiedzieć, która z nich jest główną postacią całego cyklu.

“The Gods of Mars“ is a novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, an American fiction writer, who created such great characters as Tarzan and John Carter of Mars.   The Gods of Mars is a science fantasy novel, the second of the Barsoom series. It features the characters of John Carter and Carter's wife Dejah Thoris. Full of swordplay and daring feats, the series is considered a classic example of 20th-century pulp fiction. The story is set on Mars, imagined as a dying planet with a harsh desert environment. This vision of Mars was based on the work of the astronomer Percival Lowell, whose ideas were widely popularized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

A pioneer of commercial fiction and an innovator in the genre that would later become known as science fiction.   The novel explores the themes of domination of one people over the others, the differences between races, emancipation of women, and the strength of the human spirit, strengthened in a struggle with the nature and society.

The Battle of Life - a novel by Charles Dickens, an English writer who is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era.   Two sisters, Grace and Marion, live happily in an English village with their two servants, Clemency Newcome and Ben Britain, and their good-natured widower father Dr Jeddler. Dr Jeddler is a man whose philosophy is to treat life as a farce. Marion, the younger sister, is betrothed to Alfred Heathfield, Jeddler's ward who is leaving the village to complete his studies. He entrusts Marion to Grace's care and makes a promise to return to win Marion's hand.

The Way to Wealth is an essay written by Benjamin Franklin. It is a compilation of advice that originally appeared in Poor Richard's Almanack. The advice is organized into a speech delivered by a character called Father Abraham to a group of individuals. The essay emphasizes principles related to work ethic and frugality, and many of the phrases quoted by Father Abraham remain recognizable and relevant today.

Burning Daylight is a novel by Jack London, published in 1910, which was one of the best-selling books of that year and it was London's best-selling book in his lifetime. The novel takes place in the Yukon Territory in 1893. The main character, nicknamed "Burning Daylight" was the most successful entrepreneur of the Alaskan Gold Rush. The story of the main character was partially based upon the life of Oakland entrepreneur "Borax" Smith.

Błagalnice to dramat Eurypidesa, największego obok Ajschylosa i Sofoklesa tragika starożytnej Grecji.   Do Eleusis niedaleko Aten przybywają błagalnice z Argos z prośbą o wsparcie w konflikcie z Tebańczykami, którzy odmawiają im wydania ciał wojowników zmarłych podczas bitwy. Dramat ten jest pochwałą demokracji oraz samych Aten.

„Sen srebrny Salomei” to dramat autorstwa Juliusza Słowackiego, obok Adama Mickiewicza uznawanego powszechnie za największego przedstawiciela polskiego romantyzmu. Główny wątek stanowi historia miłości Leona i Salomei, zagrożonej planami Regimentarza, aby ożenić syna z księżniczką Wiśniowiecką. Obok tego rozgrywają się inne wątki: Gruszczyńskiego, walk z kozakami i związku Wiśniowieckiej z Sawą. Kluczowe momenty losów każdej z postaci pierwszoplanowych stanowią kolejno: objawienie przyszłych wydarzeń, ustosunkowanie się do nich i zakończenie okupione cierpieniami, jeśli bohater zlekceważył przepowiednie.
