Nach Abenteuern in der Teufelsschlucht und bei der Juwelenhöhle treffen Kara Ben Nemsi und seine Begleiter auf das Oberhaupt der Verbrecher, den sogenannten Schut. Manche gefährliche Situation wird heraufbeschworen, ehe die Jagd, die in der tunesischen Wüste begann und während der viele Abenteuer überstanden werden mussten, endlich in Albanien zu Ende geht.

O Jarosławie Iwaszkiewiczu opowiada jego "syn"! Wiesław Kępiński został osierocony jako 11-latek podczas Powstania Warszawskiego. W trakcie rzezi Woli 5 sierpnia 1944 roku zginęli jego rodzice i dwóch braci. Sam cudem ocalał. Tułał się dwa lata po Polsce, ale nikt nie miał warunków, żeby go przygarnąć. Po wojnie na apel redaktor Karoliny Beylin w "Expressie Wieczornym" reagują Anna i Jarosław Iwaszkiewiczowie, którzy w połowie lat 30. stracili nienarodzone dziecko. Iwaszkiewicz, odsunięty od wychowywania córek, bardzo chciał się spełnić w roli ojca, mając poczucie, że stracił syna. I tak 23 lutego 1947 roku biedny chłopak z robotniczej Woli staje się wychowankiem domu na Stawisku i wchodzi w centrum życia kulturalnego i intelektualnego ówczesnej Polski. W ten sposób dostaje drugie życie, co staje się wielkim szczęściem, ale i wielkim wyzwaniem. Bo czy mógł przypuszczać, że danemu mu będzie siadać do stołu z Julianem Tuwimem, przyjmować wraz z gospodarzami królową belgijską Elżbietę i odbywać długie podróże z Jarosławem Iwaszkiewiczem po Polsce. Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz pisał do niego, że "kiedyś napiszesz pamiętnik o Stawisku, który będzie materiałem do mojej biografii!! I to pierwszorzędnym. Tak powstały te wspomnienia.
