Pan Tomasz z zawodu prawnik mieszkał w pięknym domu, który potem zamienił w galerię sztuki ze względu na miłość do kobiet. Nie miał jednak do nich szczęścia. Próbował nawiązywać znajomości z różnymi panienkami, lecz po kilku nieudanych próbach zalotnych postanowił przez całe życie zostać sam. Prawnik kochał cały świat przyrodę, różne zjawiska, muzykę... Była jednak rzecz, która wprawiała w gniew uznawanego w świecie sądowym człowieka katarynka. Nie mógł znieść dźwięku wydawanego przez tę maszynę i nigdy nie życzył sobie, aby jakikolwiek kataryniarz przechodził koło jego domu. Do posiadłości obok wprowadziły się dwie panie z małą, może ośmioletnią dziewczynką. Po jakimś czasie, pan Tomasz spostrzegł, iż dziewczynka jest niewidoma. Pewnego dnia mecenas usłyszał dźwięki katarynki na podwórzu obok. Początkowo się wzburzył. Gdy jednak zobaczył, że dziewczynka raduje się na dźwięk katarynki, która była jedyną atrakcją w jej życiu, zażyczył sobie, aby kataryniarz codziennie przygrywał tej małej dziewczynce z sąsiedztwa.

The last king of the Picts, Bran Mak Morn exists in a brutal, savage world set in the same universe as H.P. Lovecrafts Cthulhu Mythos. Unlike most of his race, Morn eschewed violence and actively sought peace among the other tribes of Ancient England. The Picts are savage, bestial, un-united; and Bran Mak Morn desires to bring his nation out of savagery, to bring it back to the civilization of their fathers. The Bran Mak Morn tales are littered with supernatural nasties and plenty of action. Highly recommended for fans of fantasy, historical fiction, and Robert E. Howard.

Adam Asnyk, polski poeta i dramatopisarz, ogłaszał wiersze w licznych zbiorach. Tom zawiera dziesiątki utworów poetyckich z lat 18761894. Twórczość Asnyka można podzielić na dwa okresy, których nazwa wiąże się z miejscem zamieszkania poety. W okresie lwowskim autor przede wszystkim odwołuje się do przeszłości, wydarzeń związanych z klęską powstania styczniowego i katastrofą narodową, do której powstanie 1963 r. doprowadziło. Powstają wówczas wiersze pełne bluźnierstw, buntu przeciw Stwórcy i ustalonemu porządkowi świata, goryczy i zwątpienia czy w końcu krytycznego obrachunku z romantyzmem politycznym. Osobną grupę stanowi liryka miłosna, w której odwołując się do praw serca wyraża poeta protest przeciwko porządkom tej ziemi. Utwory te cechuje bogata paleta uczuć od smutku i melancholii do miłości i delikatnych drgnień serca. Twórczość z okresu krakowskiego jest wyrazem pogodzenia się ze światem. Poeta poszukuje porozumienia ze współczesnością. Motywem wielu jego utworów jest krajobraz górski, zwłaszcza tatrzański.

This is another collection of short stories by Edward Phillips Oppenheim, the prolific English novelist who was in his lifetime a major and successful writer of genre fiction including thrillers and spy novels, and who wrote over a 100 of them. He was the self-styled prince of storytellers, generally regarded as the earliest writer of spy fiction as we know it today, and invented the Rogue Male school of adventure thrillers. His plotting is as smooth as silk, with the virtue of creating believable characters of genuine sophistication and wit. This book is a revenge story with each chapter describing how Mannister takes care of the different people who wronged him. Wonderful entertainment and highly entertaining.

The Gambling Girl, by Edgar Wallace is a book of short story mysteries. Bill and Mary met at a gambling casino and both are imprisoned for reasons that are murky. Bill was a former detective with the American Army at G.H.Q. Marys past was more mysterious. From that day forward however, neither of their lives would ever be the same again. Fast-paced, with good twists and turns, an unusual mystery scheme and a little romance. Its all great fun and Wallace keeps the action moving along swiftly, as he always did. Wonderful entertainment and highly entertaining. If you havent discovered the joys of Wallaces mysteries there is a good place to start. Highly recommended.
