Idee powstałe na gruncie filozofii kontynentalnej oraz poglądy współczesnej kognitywistyki są tak odmienne, że niemożliwe wydaje się znalezienie dla nich jakiejkolwiek płaszczyzny komparatystycznej. Na płaszczyźnie filozofii języka te na pozór odległe tradycje intelektualne w wielu kwestiach przemawiają jednak zadziwiająco podobnym głosem.
