In this story, Hugh is joined by Ronald Standish, who previously appeared in many of the authors stories. Ronald Standish is a charming guy and a free detective. He receives a call from a friend who asks for his help, but the line abruptly interrupts. With horror, he rushes to his friend, but upon arrival finds him dead with wounds in his eyes.
