Wallace was an extremely prolific writer who wrote over 175 novels, plus numerous plays, essays and journalistic articles. During the peak of his success during the 1920s, it was said that a quarter of all books read in England were written by him. Many of his novels were made into films and TV dramas.

This is a very clever collection of linked stories by E. Phillips Oppenheim written in 1913. Algernon Knox, pretty young, dapper, seemingly silly, has failed at everything. Although wealthy, he fails when he stands for parliament. By chance he becomes involved in a blackmail against his uncle, who is a diplomat. Knox foils the plot, and a new career is born, the gentleman detective. In some ways, the young man carries out increasingly dangerous and cleaver missions against criminals and foreign spies. Haunted by the beautiful but foreign Adele de Hagon, Knox finds his career and fortunes on the rise. An enjoyable read!

Thunder Moon was the adopted son of a great warrior, unaware that he was born the son of a white man. And though he grew bigger and stronger than the other Indian boys, he was not accepted until the day a water snake bit him and began an adventure that would make him a legend among Indians and white man alike! It is the first novel in the series that came out in the year 1970.

She has the religious faith of a child, while her mind is exceptionally well informed in many ways. The young girl, daring in her simplicity, enjoys the writings of the famous Parisian poet Melchior de Canalis and imagines herself to be in love with him. However, he is not moved by her attentions. He invites his secretary Ernest de la Briere to deal with the matter. Ernest answers Modestes letters in his name and acts as her lover, disguised as Canalis. The scene changes dramatically when Ernest discovers that Modest is, in fact, a rich heiress. Would he be able to win her heart despite his lie? Many characters appear, and there are fresh and dewy pictures of rural France.
