Since this is not a very famous story, and most of the pleasure that it provides depends on the surprise that the highlight in the story will present to the reader. Winston Bunter, who registered as First Mate on Sapphire, a ship bound for Calcutta. His commander, Captain Jones, is described as an extremely unpleasant person, incredulous and capricious, who believes that sailors over forty are no longer suitable, and he always talks about ghosts and ways to contact them. Despite all this strange humor that lives within the framework of this story, you can, of course, feel that the narrator is very skeptical of Johns opinion that senior sailors are no longer suitable, as he makes a sharp remark that gray-haired tars are desperate in search of a berth in the English ports.

The Lovers Baedeker and Guide to Arcady book is the authors description of a fantasy land inhabited by lovers. It is a travel guide to the mythic land of Arcardy which, according to the map on page 35, is just over the Delectable Mountains from the Land of Hearts Desire and is bordered by the State of Matrimony and the Sea of Dreams. Arcady is transversed by the Road To Wealth and the River Lethe, is just over the Great Divide from the State of Blessed Singleness. The city of Arcady in the kingdom of Arcadia, which is inhabited entirely by a strange but interesting race known as Lovers. After describing how it is to be reached by the Joy Line across the Sea of Dreams in transports of rapture, she tells of its topography, its climate, time, custom-house regulations, flowers...

Utwór dramatyczny należący do cyklu dramatów Dziady. Powstawał w latach 18201821 w Kownie. Ze względu na miejsce powstania niekiedy określany mianem Dziadów wileńsko-kowieńskich. Akcja utworu toczy się w Dzień Zaduszny. Nocą, w kaplicy zebrała się grupa ludzi z pobliskiej wioski. Trwa ludowy obrzęd Dziadów, któremu przewodniczy Guślarz. Zebrani wzywają kolejno dusze czyśćcowe. Na ich wezwanie przybywają trzy rodzaje duchów: lekkie, ciężkie i pośrednie. Wieśniacy starają się w miarę swoich możliwości ulżyć cierpieniu pojawiających się duchów. Gdy obrzęd dobiega końca, nieoczekiwanie zjawia się jednak kolejny duch, który nie reaguje na wezwania i przekleństwa Guślarza i reszty... Druga część Dziadów to utwór o charakterze moralnym. Reprezentowana tu moralność wynika z ludowych przekonań o winie i karze. Określona kategoria grzechów pociąga za sobą rodzaj kary. Cierpiącym duszom należy pomóc w osiągnięciu zbawienia. Jest to wynikiem wierzeń prostych ludzi w możliwość kontaktów ze światem nadprzyrodzonym. Wiarę tę włączyli do swego programu romantycy.
