Ciepła wdówka to trzyaktowa komedia Michała Bałuckiego, polskiego pisarza i publicysty z okresu pozytywizmu. Zaliczał się on do nurtu tak zwanych przedburzowców, który istniał na przełomie późnego romantyzmu i pozytywizmu. Większość utworów Bałuckiego sytuuje się na granicy farsy oraz komedii, czerpiąc z twórczości Aleksandra Fredry. Akcja najczęściej rozgrywa się wśród średnio zamożnego mieszczaństwa.

Uznawany za czwartego polskiego wieszcza romantycznego, niezrozumiany za życia, zapomniany po śmierci. Ponownie odkrył go dopiero Zenon Przesmycki-Miriam w okresie Młodej Polski. Zajmował się wieloma dziedzinami sztuki: pisał poezje, formy prozatorskie, dramaty, eseje, był też grafikiem, rzeźbiarzem, malarzem i filozofem. Na tom składają się następujące utwory: Pamiętnik podróżny, Cywilizacja. Legenda, Ad leones, Menego. Wyjątek z pamiętnika, Czarne kwiaty, Białe kwiaty i Milczenie.

A Strange Story is a mystery novel, which is told from the perspective of Dr. Allan Fenwicke, a rational materialist. He publically debunks the spiritualist beliefs of his fellow physician Dr. Lloyd, and thereby hastens his colleagues demise. It is an interesting novel with beautiful story full of suspense, thrill, love, drama and unexpected twists.
