Victor Hugo
Dzieło należy do klasyki literatury europejskiej. Akcja osadzona jest w Paryżu, w czasach późnego średniowiecza. Opowiada przede wszystkim o miłości archidiakona Klaudiusza Frollo do pięknej Cyganki Esmeraldy.

This is the fourth book of the succesful mystery series Madame Storey, by canadian-american author Hulbert Footner. Almost unknown today, Footner was a Candadian journalist and author of many adventure and mystery novels. In The Doctor Who Held Hands Madame Storey is asked to help in stopping the pseudo-psychological activities of a doctor who has set himself up as a psycho-synthetist, seemingly to help his patients, but in fact blackmailing them... Storey is almost imprisoned in her movements from the very start giving the story a bit of claustrophobic feel until little by little she finds a way to break out of the surveillance. The story has a lot of action and a neat twist in the final paragraph.

The pioneering creator of the inverted detective story, R. Austin Freeman was a popular Edwardian author of novels and short stories featuring Dr. Thorndyke, a pathologist-detective. Freemans detective and mystery tales offered an innovative approach to the genre, selling thousands of copies on both sides of the Atlantic. Robert Hawke is a man on the run. After returning from business in London, he finds that a sworn enemy, Will Colville, has been shot dead and the murder weapon belongs to Hawke. But Hawke protests his innocence and is persuaded to go on the run until enough evidence is found to prevent his arrest and conviction. So begins an unwilling adventure where Hawke finds himself setting sail with a vibrant cast of men, casting off for unknown waters and strange islands. And as Hawke embarks on his exotic voyage, enemies abound in the most unlikely of places.

The day was very hot. The crew lay in groups, idly, near the deck. The captain a stately man of about forty or so stepped up and down a quarter of the deck now letting his eyes wander around his people or give them some order. His companion was young, three to four years younger than him, with a frank beautiful face and laughing brown eyes. His look of careless ease was very different from the proud stock of his companion, but some secret connection of sympathy bound the two together.
Edgar Wallace
Educated Evans is the first novel in the Evans series. These stories combine Wallaces talent for humor with his hallmark detective story themes. The eponymous principal character is a London racing tipster. Garrulous and delightfully ignorant of most of the subjects about which he professes to have knowledge, Evans provides the comic foil for the towering figure of The Miller, a formidable police detective named for his perpetual habit of chewing upon a length of straw. Together the pair form an uneasy partnership as they undertake various adventures in the worlds of racing and petty criminality.
