Der mit Moos bedeckte Eingang erlaubt kein unbemerktes Ein- und Aussteigen. Das Tier vollführt verschiedenste Prozeduren, wie Anlegen von Forschungsgräben und Zusatzgängen, beobachtet tagelang von aussen den Eingang. Es findet aber keine Lösung, die sein Sicherheitsbedürfnis befriedigen würde. Die Erzahlung handelt von der Verstrickung in die zwanghafte Beobachtung einer selbstgeschaffenen labyrinthartigen Anlage, die zunehmende Paranoia erzeugt.
