His first works were primarily travelogues of various river trips in Canada and the U.S., although he did produce some adventure novels. He is also credited with introducing the first American female investigator in Madame Storey and her plain assistant who explains the evolving solutions to her boss cases. So we are introduced to the fascinating Madame Rosika Storey, fearless and intelligent, who plays cat-and-mouse with killers, goes undercover to break up criminal gangs, and unravels deadly mysteries. This is the third book of the succesful mystery series Madame Storey, by canadian-american author Hulbert Footner.

Jardines troubles begin with a casual walk, where he comes across the body of a man and runs to fetch the police, only to come back and find that the dead man has disappeared. The police can find no trace that the man was ever there, so Jardine takes it upon himself to examine the scene for clues. His findings lead him into a very strange adventure which can only be solved with the technical expertise of Dr. Thorndyke, but not before Jardine finds his life in danger, and not just once.

To London Town novel was intended to provide a picture of working-class life in the East End of London at the end of the nineteenth century. Arthur Morrison, (1863-1945), English writer noted for realist novels and short stories describing slum life in Londons East End at the end of the Victorian era. A Child of the Jago and To London Town completed this East End trilogy.

Adams Beck was one of the pen-names of Elizabeth Louisa Moresby, a Canadian writer who wrote most of her 30 books in the last 10 years of her life. She was also known as Eliza Louisa Moresby Beck and Lily Moresby Adams. She was a staunch Buddhist and strict vegetarian, highly critical of the materialism of the West. Her works include The Ninth Vibration (1922), Dreams and Delights (1922), The Perfume of the Rainbow (1923) and others.
